How to improve the User Interface of a Blood Glucose Meter
On this site I am presenting a User Interface for a Blood glucose meter that I have designed in my thesis for HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences. The user interface is designed to a user that uses insulin pump.
A blood glucose meter is a device that is used to measure blood glucose value. Blood glucose meters presently on the market give the user only little information: date, time and the blood glucose value in numeral form. Based on the information given by the device the user makes a decision on what action is needed. Blood glucose meter is actually an Desicion Support System and it’s purpose is to give the user enough information to support the user’s deciosion making.
The user interface that I designed is called “Visio” and it’s goal is to maximize the benefits of the data from the blood glucose meter and insulin pump and minimize the user’s work. Visio is designed to use a platform similar to the wonderful iPod Touch. All the things concerning the management of diabetes are based on my own experience. I have no medical training.

Verensokerimittari tukee käyttäjän päätöksentekoa tehokkaasti ja vaivattomasti, maksimoiden verensokerimittarin ja insuliinipumpun datoista saatavan hyödyn.
